Established neighborhood in Lakeridge Reno Nevada with mature trees and homes near the Lakeridge Golf Course and Lake Stanley in Southwest Reno

Living in Lakeridge Reno Nevada: What It's Really Like

Living in Lakeridge Reno Nevada: What It's Really Like

I lived in Lakeridge for eleven years. I finished raising my sons there. They both went to Reno High. I walked my dog through Bartley Ranch Park almost every day.

So when buyers ask me what it is like to live in Lakeridge, I am not reading from a fact sheet. I am telling them about a neighborhood I know from the inside out.

Lakeridge is one of the most established, most beloved areas in Southwest Reno. People who have lived in Reno for a long time tend to end up here, and once they do, they rarely leave. There is a reason locals call it "Old Reno" territory. It earned that.

Shannon Comstock is a real estate agent in Reno, Nevada specializing in luxury homes and neighborhoods across Washoe County and Northern Nevada.

An Established Neighborhood with Real Character

Lakeridge sits on the Southwest side of Reno and has a feel that newer communities simply cannot manufacture. The trees are mature. The streets are established. The neighbors have often known each other for years.

Homes in the area were mostly built between the 1970s and early 2000s, which means the landscaping has had decades to fill in and the neighborhood has a settled, permanent quality to it. You are not driving through a neighborhood that is still figuring out what it wants to be.

Families have always been drawn here. There are a lot of them, and the area has a strong sense of community that comes from people putting down roots and staying.

The Lakeridge Golf Course

The Lakeridge Golf Course is the heart of the neighborhood and one of the most popular public courses in all of Reno.

This is not a private members-only club. It is open to the public, and people from all over town come here to play. The course is beautiful and well known for its signature 15th hole, where golfers tee off from a ridge and aim for a green sitting on an island in Lake Stanley.

Whether you golf or not, the course gives the neighborhood an open, green, well-maintained quality that adds to the overall feel of the area.

Lakeridge Shores and Lake Stanley

Within the broader Lakeridge area sits Lakeridge Shores, a gated section that is in a category of its own.

Lakeridge Shores is the only part of Lakeridge with direct access to Lake Stanley, the manmade lake at the center of the community. Residents here can boat, fish, kayak, and paddleboard on the lake. On any given day you will see people out on the water.

The homes in Lakeridge Shores are significantly larger and more expensive than the rest of the neighborhood. Based on current MLS data, waterfront homes in Lakeridge Shores are priced from approximately $1.9 million to $2.8 million, with recent closed sales reaching $1.459 million on the lower end of the waterfront range. This is some of the most distinctive real estate in all of Washoe County.

If waterfront living in the middle of Reno is what you are looking for, Lakeridge Shores is the only place in the city that offers it.

For a full breakdown of how Lakeridge Shores compares to other gated communities across Reno:Gated Communities in Reno and Washoe County: The Complete Guide

Bartley Ranch Park

Bartley Ranch Regional Park hugs right up against Lakeridge, and it is one of the best things about living in this neighborhood.

The park has miles of walking trails that wind through more than 50 acres. I walked those trails almost every day when I lived here. You are right in the middle of Southwest Reno doing it, and you would never know it. It feels completely removed from the city.

The park has an open-air amphitheater that hosts summer concerts, plays, and shows at the Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater. If you enjoy outdoor performances on warm Nevada evenings, this becomes part of your summer routine. If you live in Lakeside Lewis Homes, you can walk to the shows.

There are also horse arenas available for public use. Residents can bring their horses to ride in the arena or take them out on the trails. You access the park through an old covered bridge, which gives it a character you do not expect to find this close to Midtown Reno.

The park also sits close to Windy Hill, which has magnificent views of Reno that are worth the walk every single time.

Location and Getting Around

One of Lakeridge's most practical advantages is how central it is.

You are close to the middle of town, which means McCarran Boulevard and a network of backroads give you access to most of Reno without needing to get on the freeway. The airport is nearby. Shopping is nearby. You are not driving across town to get anywhere.

This is a meaningful difference from neighborhoods like Somersett or ArrowCreek, where you are further out and freeway access matters more for daily errands. In Lakeridge, the city comes to you.

Shopping, Restaurants, and Daily Life

Lakeridge sits within a thick commercial area that covers most of what you need on a daily basis.

Trader Joe's, Home Depot, Target, Walmart and Whole Foods are nearby. There are plenty of restaurants close by as well. One of my personal favorites is Big Horn Tavern, which is located right in Lakeridge. Good food, a comfortable atmosphere, and a great place to watch sports.

This is not a neighborhood where you have to plan ahead for everyday needs. Everything is close.

What Homes Cost in Lakeridge Right Now

Based on current MLS data as of April 2026, active listings across the broader Lakeridge area range from approximately $659,000 to $2.775 million, with a median active price around $866,000. Homes average around 3,025 square feet at approximately $394 per square foot.

Recent closed sales have had a median around $779,000, with the overall average closed price around $847,000. Homes in the gated Lakeridge Shores waterfront section sit significantly above those figures, ranging from approximately $1.9 million to $2.8 million based on current active listings.

The range reflects the diversity of the neighborhood. Modest, well-kept homes on established lots at the lower end. Waterfront estates on Lake Stanley at the upper end.

Lakeside Lewis Homes

Inside of Lakeridge is Lakeside Lewis Homes, an area I know deeply from years of living in it. It is an accessible Southwest Reno community with its own distinct character.

If you want to learn more about Lakeside Lewis Homes, I have put together a full neighborhood resource including MLS data and a video walk-through:lakeside.shannoncomstock.com

Who Lakeridge Is a Great Fit For

Lakeridge works well for a wide range of buyers, which is part of why it has stayed popular for decades.

It is a strong fit for families who want an established neighborhood with great schools nearby, including Reno High. It works well for buyers who want to be centrally located without paying downtown prices. Golf enthusiasts who want a beautiful public course outside their door will feel at home here. And buyers who want walking trails, outdoor space, and a genuine neighborhood feel without leaving the city will find Bartley Ranch Park a daily gift.

Lakeridge Shores specifically is a strong fit for buyers who want waterfront living and the exclusivity of a gated community within an established neighborhood setting.

As I cover in my book,Selling Your Washoe County Home: The Secrets to Maximum Success, the neighborhoods that hold their value best over time tend to be the ones with genuine character, walkability, and a sense of community. Lakeridge checks every one of those boxes.

Who Lakeridge Is NOT a Great Fit For

Lakeridge is not the right fit for everyone, and I would rather be honest about that.

If you want brand new construction, Lakeridge is not your neighborhood. The homes here are older, and while many have been beautifully updated, you are not getting new builds on this side of town.

If you want a master-planned community with resort-style amenities like a private gym, clubhouse, and gated entry throughout, Lakeridge is not that. It is an organic, established neighborhood, not a managed community experience.

If you are looking for the larger lots and wider open space of communities like Saddlehorn or ArrowCreek, Lakeridge lots tend to be smaller and the neighborhood is denser. Although some of the older homes do have larger lots.

And if proximity to ski resorts and Lake Tahoe is a daily priority, Lakeridge's central Reno location means you are further from the freeway access points that Northwest Reno neighborhoods like Somersett provide. You are kind of in the middle. You could go to Mt Rose, or Northstar in about the same amount of time.
